In January 2022, the President of South Africa assented to three key pieces of legislation aimed at enhancing the country's response to gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF): (1) the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, (2) the Criminal and Related Matters Amendment Act, and (3) the Domestic Violence Amendment Act.
